I am not going to share to much politics on my column as I do not want to offend people. However I do want to stress that each and everyone does need to go out and vote! We are in a time when it is very important that the peoples thoughts and views have got to be heard and the way we do that is by voting! I will say I was a Bernie Sanders supporter, I would still vote for him today. I don't say that to make people mad, I say that because people that were going to vote for him are now saying that they are not voting or that they are going to write him in on the ballot. My suggestion is to vote for one of the candidates as each vote counts and by voting for someone that is not on the ballot any longer you are in danger of wasting your vote. Each and every vote really do count so please think about this! Also we do live in America, our country was built on having a voice to speak out, freedom of choice and the ability to have our own opinions. Please respect those that do not vote or see things from your point of view. We live in a good country, lets work on making it even better!

Spooner Advocate Column - September 16, 2016

Good morning everyone! I hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend! I know we had a lot of traffic up here enjoying the last weekend before schools starts. Now its really beginning to feel like fall being folks are back in school and there are less vacationers here. I hope everyone had a great summer and are now ready to get back to school! Please remember to slow down out there in the morning, lots of people are rushing to get to work but we need to be safe around the kids!

I haven’t talked about Cable Natural History Museum in a while. I have to say I don’t get up there to the museum as much as I would like to, but I do like the articles that Emily Stone writes for the Sawyer County Record. This last one about Pitcher plants was very interesting. If you have not had the privilege of seeing an actual pitcher plant you should really go visit a bog. I have the privilege of going out on the bog and I have to say pitcher plants are one of my favorites! If you would like more information on the museum go to www.cablemuseum.org.

On September 10 I was able to go down to Open Street on West Broadway in Minneapolis. It was great fun to be able to travel with my friend Mary and her son Nodin, we had a great time and got to see old friends and make some new ones! Great job to all the volunteers, workers and people that sold or just came out to visit! A lot of hard work went into organizing this event and everyone did an awesome job! Thanks so much Britt and Lupe!

Spooner Advocate Column September 23, 2016

Hello friends! Hope everyone is enjoying the cooler weather. It has been alittle wet again lately. I thing the only one that appreciates all this water is the fish, ducks and geese! It seems like its either feast or famine when it comes to the weather. Is everyone out working in their yards? Putting the gardens to rest?? I bought some squash the other day....need to buy some more. Please remember the farmers markets ...they are still going on and would love to sell you  some locally grown produce. Hopefully people are canning and freezing some of this years bounty.
It was a pleasure to see my foster parents up from Minneapolis. Karen and Leif Nestingen met me in Spooner and we ate at Nicks. I have to say our waitress was awesome! She came out apologized that my dad's chicken sandwich was taking longer to cook. She was very nice about everything. Even asked me how my head was feeling when she found out I had a headache! Have to say I am glad for small town places like Nick's that have good food and nice people! Keep up the great work!
