Spooner Advocate- Springbrook Column, August 21, 2014

Good day friends- Hello there! Is everyone as cold as I am? brrr what has happened to the weather? The rain was sure cold on Sunday too! I am glad it waited until after we started breaking down the exhibit at the fair. 

Congrats to my foster sister Gail who got married on Saturday! Your wedding was beautiful and we were so happy to attend! I wish you and Russell all the happiness in the future! Here is to a long life and your dreams all coming true! 

Did you get to the Sawyer County Fair?We all had a great time! Thank you for all those the came as an exhibitor, volunteer or just to attend! You make the fair awesome! Looking forward to next year already!

Mikhaila is now a U of M-Duluth Bulldog! We went up and got her registered at the University last week. That is a large school! She now has her classes, dorm room and her room mate.We still need to get books and pack but things are moving along nice.It will be strange not to have her at the house! Any other empty nesters out there? How are you dealing with your kids going off to start their future and accomplish their dreams? Good luck to all the Hayward and Spooner graduates that are going on to school or working! I hope this is a great time in your life! Remember you can always go back to school in the future...look at me I am doing it!

I would like to wish Kaelon Anderson good luck at college this fall! I know you will do a great job and achieve all those goals that you are setting! Have a fantastic first semester!

Deb over at the Thimbles Quilt Shop wants folks to know that there is still some openings in her quilting class called "Deck the Halls", which starts soon. Happy Birthday to all the August birthdays out there!  Happy birthday to my darling daughter Mikhaila who turns 18 on the 15th! I can't believe it has been 18 years that I have had the privilege to be your mother!  I am so proud of the wonderful young lady you have become. Happy Birthday to the President of the United States! Happy birthday to Roma Eder, hope your birthday is great! Happy birthday to Karen Cavenaugh!  Have a wonderful birthday readers and I hope it is happy and that you do something fun!  Remember we love you! Hugs!
 
Thanks for all those that came to the Family Farm day at the LCOOCC farm! We had a great time and awesome food! The petting zoo was a big hit! Thanks to my daughter for helping me bring the kittens and the goats! She was a great help with letting the kids pet and hold the animals! Thank you to Mark and Mary who came down from Superior for the event! If you missed it please plan on coming out for it next year! A big thank you to all the workers and volunteers that made the event go so smoothly!

Aug 25th- Canning Tomatoes and Salsa at the Student Center Kitchen from 5-8 pm, Aug. 26- Photography Session Topic: Editing/ Enhance, LCCOOCC room 310 from 5-8 pm, Aug 27th- Food Preservation Canning at the Student Center Kitchen from 5-8 pm. Aug. 29th Black Ash Basket making at the LCOOCC College farm.

September 5-7, 2014 Wisconsin Sheep and Wool Festival. More information can be found at www.wisconsinsheepandwoolfestival.com. I really want to go this year as I have sheep and want to get to be a better shepherdess, hmmm need to go browse the catalog. Anyone else going out there beside Carmella and Toby?

Time to get those registrations in for the- 7th Annual Knitting and Crocheting Extravaganza being held on September 13, 2014! Frederic High School, from 9-3 pm! It really is the best $20 you can spend on yourself!
